As part of its recruitment process, ZOA carries out rigorous background and reference checks for all candidates, which will include checking government sanction lists and possibly criminal records. As ZOA also participates in the Inter-Agency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme, all reference checks include a written questionnaire, the “Statement of Conduct”, which will be sent to past employers regarding Misconduct (such as sexual exploitation, abuse or harassment). This Statement of Conduct adopts the definitions used in the Scheme. The provision of references by ZOA will be subject to the Scheme as well.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners
    • Setting up accounts for new users
    • Supporting end users as first point of contact and resolving issues and requests
    • Training users in using ZOA information systems and basic computer skills
    • Purchasing, installing and maintaining workstations and manage lifecycle of IT assets
    • Ensuring workstations and network is compliant with ZOA IT policies
    • Maintain network and IT equipment in local network, making sure backup are made, security updates are installed, and printers and where applicable telephone systems are functioning
    • Monitoring internet connection, liaising with provider to ensure speed is met and keeping up-to-date with local internet trends and developments
    • Manage User accounts and facilitate IT onboarding and offboarding of country staff
    • Implement changes to network in corporation with Head Quarters IT
    • Identify possibilities for improvements in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness
    • Support for internal, external and donor audits of IT systems and data
    • Other duties assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

    • Communication skills: Can relate well to people in order to understand their IT needs and communicate - both orally and in writing - in such a way that the essence gets across to others and is understood
    • Has an good command of the English (written and Verbal)
    • Can convey information in a clear and non-technical way
    • Good social skills
    • Analytic thinking: Can approach a technical problem and unravel it into manageable parts
    • Customer oriented
    • Listens well to the customer/user and actively demonstrates responding to the wishes/expectations of the customer/user.

EXPERTISE:

    1. Windows 10,11, Microsoft Office
    2. Microsoft 365 cloud
    3. Basic networking (routing switching, wifi, cabling)
    4. Maintains high standards with regard to own professionalism and that of others
    5. Planning and organization: Is able to deal with multiple tasks and demands at the same time, plan and organize activities in an efficient and effective way
    6. Works in a planned and structured way and ensure the timely completion of activities
    7. 3-year experience in IT or local degree in IT
    8. Technical insight
    9. Willingness & ability to learn

JOB DIMENSION

    • Is member of the country team
    • Reports to the Director of Operations
    • May delegate specific tasks to key users in remote country offices
    • Functionally reports to NLD IT Manager

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Will be the first point of contact, regarding computer related questions, for all ZOA Ethiopia staff including staff in remote field offices
    • Will work closely with other NLD IT staff on implementing changes on the IT network
    • Will connect with other IT staff in the ZOA IT community and participate in regular meetings
    • Will inform and liaise with the DoO and NLD IT manager on key IT issues impacting the whole office
    • Will work with external suppliers regarding the supervision of the fulfilment of agreements regarding delivery/service/maintenance
